Stop the beeping!

“Stop the beeping!” was my wife’s cry.  The time was just after 2:00am and the house was in a chorus of high pitch chirping.  I had recently installed  21 x Ankuoo MS6216 WiFi smart switches and our Netgear Wifi access point had just rebooted due to a minuscule power fluctuation caused by the nightly hot-water tariff controller.  My sleeping family would be awake if I didn’t do something…NOW!  So I ran outside into a downpour but I knew if I didn’t turn off the light circuit breaker that my life wouldn’t be worth living.  I eventually reached the power-box, flicked the switch and there was silence once again.  I decided that night I needed to find a solution…and here it is.   (Disclaimer:  use at your own risk).

1.  Remove Plastic cover via guitar-pick or similar device.

2.  The buzzer is a black cylindrical surface mount component.

3.  Using a pair of pliers to hold the buzzer, apply heat with a soldering iron onto circuit-board component pins. The buzzer will disconnect from the circuit-board with some pressure on the pliers.

4. Clean the circuit board of any solder with a solder removing strip or solder sucker.

5. Re-assemble device , ensuring the case clips securely back together.

I’ve replaced 5 devices in bedrooms and still need to swap out the other 16 devices.
